Dr Vinayakom is trained and certified in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Herbal Medicine, by Tsun-Nin lee, MD., in Medical Acupuncture by the Helms Medical Institute and Auriculotherapy by Terry Olson, Ph.D.

Dr Vinayakom studied at Trivandrum Medical College, India. Got his MBBS degree in 1965. Worked as an Assistant Surgeon in Government Hospitals in Kerala, India. He went for higher studies to UK in 1971 and served as a Consultant Anesthetist at Monklands District Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland. After 7 years of experience in the UK, Dr. Vinayakom moved to United States in 1978. He started as a Fellow at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington DC and moved up to the position of Professor of Anesthesia, Georgetown University Medical Center.
Dr Vinayakom took an early retirement in 2012 after working for 34 years at Georgetown University Medical Center to pursue his interest in Medical Acupuncture. He further went through 4 years of rigorous training and certification at Helms Medical Institute of Acupuncture Studies in California, Traditional Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine under Tsun-Nin Lee, MD.
Dr. Vinayakom also studied Auricular Acupuncture under Dr.Terry Olsen PhD.
He is American Board Certified in Auricular Acupuncture and Medical Acupuncture. Also Dr Vinayakom is licensed to practice Medical Acupuncture by the Board of Medicine DC and Maryland Board of Physicians.
Dr.Vinayakom is certified as Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Acupuncture (DABMA)
